Shelly Gerhard

Shelly Gerhard is a native of New Derry and lifelong farmer. Together with his wife, Carol, he has owned and operated Fairview Farm in Derry Township since 1964 raising beef cattle, chickens, pigs, horses and a variety of crops including corn, oats, barley, wheat, soy beans and hay. This day-in-the-life account of small town rural farming is based on a composite of his life experiences. He studied Agriculture at Penn State University and, as an avid reader, continues to learn about a variety of subjects every day.
